作者Uri Friedman在這篇文章中指出，美國在與中國的“較量”中或已失去其盟友的支持。
自美國單方面挑起中美貿易爭端以來，華為作為全球第一大電信設備廠商，屢遭美方施壓。此番美國政府對華為設備及其5G技術不安全的指控，也已經讓人見怪不怪。
但至今，美國似乎也未能拿出確鑿證據證明華為產品及其5G技術究竟有何“安全風險”。
儘管華為多次強調，5G作為工具本身沒有安全問題，華為也不會植入後門。但美國政府始終強調採購華為設備將對國家安全造成威脅，如今卻遭遇滑鐵盧。

然而這次，美國政府並沒有收到其盟友的滿意答覆。
英國首相鮑里斯·約翰遜明確表示，英國民眾有權使用最好的科技。反對英國在5G網絡使用華為設備者，必須說明英國應該使用何種技術取代華為產品。
儘管面臨來自美國的巨大壓力，英國仍然選擇允許華為部分參與其5G網絡建設，這無疑表明華為5G技術在通訊市場裡無法被取代，美國的虛張聲勢終將以失敗告終。
